The National Salvation Government of Yemen has on Monday evening declared its support for Russia’s recognition of the independence of the People’s Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk.
“We support the recognition of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent republics,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, said, adding: “We call for restraint against a war intended to drain Russian capabilities.”

Earlier, Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad confirmed that Damascus is ready to recognise the People’s Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk.
“President Assad has said that Damascus will be ready to recognize the Republics of Lugansk and Donetsk” Dmitry Sablin, member of the State Duma of Russia said.
President of the Russian Federation member state Chechnya, Ramadan Kadyrov, reiterated his full support for the decision to recognise the People’s Republics as well, noting that “it is the only way out of the current political impasse.”
On Monday evening, Russian President Vladimir Putin officially recognised both the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republics as independent states in the eyes of Moscow. Putin had been asked to do so in a State Duma parliamentary vote that was passed on February 14.
President Putin and the presidents of Donetsk and Lugansk also signed separate agreements on friendship, cooperation and assistance between their countries.
