Saudi-appointed official survives assassination attempt in Ma'rib

An official in the Saudi-led government has escaped an assassination attempt in the center of Ma’rib province.

According to human rights sources familiar with issue, an improvised explosive device exploded and targeted Saudi-appointed governor Ahmed Abad while he was on his way home in Ma’rib city.

The sources accused the cells of an organisation called Ammar Afash having carried out the assassination attempt.

The sources added that the assassination cells have targeted a number of leading figures in the Islah Party in Ma’rib and Taiz provinces.
