An account claiming to belong to a former security officer on Twitter revealed on Thursday that Saudi Arabia had recently purchased the famous THAAD air defence system for an astronomical sum.
The account pointed out that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, ordered an increase of the kingdom’s stockpile of defence systems.
Meanwhile, Saudi security sources revealed to the Khaleej 24 news outlet that the security services in the Kingdom expect a sharp resurgence of Yemeni attacks on its major facilities.
The sources said that “Our security and intelligence reports indicate the intention of the Houthis to target centers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE against the background of the recent bombing in Yemen.”
They stated that Saudi Arabia has strengthened its air defences in order to counter these attacks, revealing a request for the assistance of US forces stationed in Riyadh.
