Yemeni Prime Minister speaks on International Women's Day: Women's participation in public life necessary for development

Yemen’s Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, has on Tuesday said he considered the participation of women in various fields of life as “one of the main factors for the development of societies and countries.”

During his participation in a women’s conference organised by the Ministry of Human Rights on the occasion of International Women’s Day under the slogan “Women and men: one responsibility and one entity”, Dr. bin Habtoor explained that “celebrating this day through this event and its axis gives it an additional advantage.”

He pointed out that “the encroachment of enemies and the circumstances that Sana’a is going through will not make us forget our duties towards women, who represent half of society.”

The Prime Minister affirmed that the women in Yemen, in general have not been given sufficient opportunities to participate in public life, which requires the government to take up this task “with high responsibility.”
