India accidentally launches missile into Pakistan

The Indian Ministry of Defence has admitted on Friday that it has accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan.

“On March 9, 2022, in the course of a routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile,” the Indian Defence Ministry said in a statement.

“The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry,” the statement read.

For its part, Pakistan has summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad and conveyed its strong protest over the alleged unprovoked violation of its airspace by an Indian-origin “super-sonic flying object”, demanding a thorough and transparent investigation of the incident.

According to Pakistani authorities, the rocket landed in Mian Channu, located in the Khanewal district of Punjab, damaging property of the local population.
