Terrorist organisation Daesh (ISIS) has on Thursday announced the killing of its leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, and the appointment of Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Quraishi as his successor.
US President Joe Biden said last February that Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, had been killed during an American operation in northwestern Syria.
The liquidation of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi comes at a time when ISIS is trying to re-emerge with a series of attacks in the region, including an attack late last month on a prison in northeastern Syria that reportedly holds at least 3,000 detainees convicted of association with Daesh.
