UAE-backed militants shut down Saudi-controlled petroleum plant

A leadership of the so-called Hadhrami Uprising movement, affiliated to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militia, has suspended oil production of the Calvalley Petroleum Inc. plant in Hadhramaut province.

According to local sources, stopping the production of the Calvalley oil company is considered as an escalation aimed against the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government through hitting its oil derivatives.

The sources indicated that the escalatory step taken by the STC came after its supporters besieged the oil sector of PetroMasila, with the intention of expelling the Saudi-funded Islah Party militants from Hadhramaut.

In January, Calvalley Oil Company suspended all of its operations in Sector 9 in the Al-Khashaa area of the province.

Hadhrami Uprising called two protest rallies next Saturday in Mukalla and Seiyun, aimed against the Hadi government and their revenues from the oil production.
