A Yemeni woman has given birth to a child with only one eye on Wednesday in the city of Radaa, Bayda governorate.
Hussein Mohammed al-Abbasi reportedly rushed his wife Zahra Difallah al-Abbasi to al-Hilal Hospital in Radaa for delivery, after which she gave birth to a child with only one eye.
The child was placed in the nursery section in order to follow up on his health, Saba news agency reported, citing a medical source in Bayda.
The source pointed out that the plethora of congenital malformations that affect some newborns as of late are the result of the use of prohibited weapons by the US-Saudi-UAE aggression coalition against civilians in various areas of Yemen.
He stressed that there are birth defects that occurred to newborns in several Yemeni areas due to the use of prohibited weapons used by the aggression, pointing out that these specific congenital malformations have nothing to do with genetic factors.
The child’s mother has previously given birth to other children, without any congenital malformations.
“This is the first time this condition occurs [here], but it is present in medical books. The child has one eye, one eye cavity and one optic nerve, a condition called cyclopia,” the medical source said.
