A military leader loyal to the Saudi-led coalition forces has on Saturday survived an assassination attempt in Shabwah province, southeastern Yemen.
Local sources said that an explosive device, which was planted in the car of a leader in the so-called al-Amaliqa forces, named Mohammed Ali al-Salihi, exploded near his house in Ataq city.
Al-Amaliqa forces have been subjected to crackdowns since the UAE pushed them from the western coast towards Shabwah province in December, which observers attributed to the conflict between Saudi-backed Islah Party militants and armed groups funded by the UAE in the province.
