Doctors Without Borders calls for immediate release of Yemeni journalist Hala Fuad Badhawi from Saudi captivity

The humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has called on the Saudi-led coalition to release Yemeni freelance journalist Hala Fuad Badhawi from one of its illegal prisons in Hadhramaut province.

The organisation demanded on Thursday that all charges against Badhawi should be dropped.

On Wednesday, the occupation coalition intelligence services began holding the first closed sessions of trial of journalist Hala Fuad Badhawi, who has been detained since late last year for her writings in which she condemned the corruption rampant in the Saudi-led authorities.

A number of Yemeni and international human rights organisations have condemned the arbitrary detention of Badhawi by the coalition military intelligence in Hadhramaut, calling for her release and the dropping of all charges.

The organisations denounced the arbitrary and illegal measures by which Badawi was arrested and imprisoned, and all the pressure exerted on both her and her family members.
