The Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) said on Wednesday that the continuation of piracy on fuel ships in the Red Sea and the prevention of their access to the port of Hodeidah undermines all desired peace efforts in Yemen.
The YPC’s Executive Director, Ammar al-Adhra’i, told reporters that “the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition piracy on oil derivatives ships is a collective punishment and a violation of international laws, as fuel is linked to the daily lives of citizens.”
Meanwhile, the company’s official spokesman, Issam al-Mutawakel, indicated that the company had sent letters to the UN Envoy, Hans Grundberg, reminding him of the humanitarian situation of the Yemeni people due to the acute shortage of fuel.
He affirmed that the UN Envoy has not made any moves yet and has not released the ships held by the US-Saudi aggression coalition.
