Oman welcomes Yemeni truce

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday welcomed the declaration of a two-month armistice in Yemen.

According to the Oman News Agency, the ministry said in a statement that “the Sultanate of Oman confirms its continued efforts with the United Nations and the concerned parties with the aim of ending the war and reaching a comprehensive political settlement.”

On Friday, the head of the national negotiating delegation in Sana’a, Mohammed Abdusalam, welcomed the announcement by the UN Envoy to Yemen of a humanitarian truce under the auspices of the United Nations for a period of two months, according to which all military operations between Yemen and the coalition forces would stop.

The truce also includes the opening of Sana’a International Airport for a number of flights, as well as the opening of the port of Hodeidah, which has been besieged by the Saudi-led coalition.
