Gunmen assassinated a young man associated with a tribal leader loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on the testimonies of local sources. According to the sources, armed men in a car had set up an ambush and fired at a young man named Khaled Karroum in the Al-Kharf area in the Hadhramaut Valley, killing him and looting his vehicle.
The victim was a relative of the leader of the so-called Hadhramait Uprising movement, Sheikh Hassan al-Jabri, the sources added.
The sources did not rule out that the assassination was in retaliation for the takeover of oil fields by tribes supporting the Hadhramaut Uprising.
