Omani Foreign Ministry reveals further details of UN Envoy's visit to Sana'a

The Omani Foreign Ministry on Monday revealed the objectives of the visit of the UN Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to the capital of Sana’a.

Grundberg’s visit to Sana’a came based on the meetings and discussions held by the international mediator with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi and a number of officials in the Sultanate, the Omani ministry said.

The ministry noted the role of the meetings with the head of the Sana’a delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, in facilitating the UN visit that is aimed at consolidating the armistice and the requirements of a comprehensive settlement in Yemen.

Earlier in the day, the UN Envoy arrived in Sana’a coming from Muscat, on his first visit to the Yemeni capital since his appointment last September.

Grundberg is scheduled to meet with President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, and senior officials in the National Salvation Government to discuss the truce’s consolidation.
