Lebanese authorities have on Sunday arrested a Saudi man at Beirut airport for attempting to smuggle 18.3 kilograms of the illegal stimulant Captagon out of the country, the Interior Ministry said.
A statement issued by the office media of the Interior Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, said that the security forces had thwarted an “attempt to smuggle 18.3 kilograms of Captagon pills to the state of Kuwait through Rafic Hariri International Airport”.
The statement added that the suspect in the operation was a Saudi citizen who resides in Kuwait.
“Minister Mawlawi affirms that efforts are ongoing to protect our Arab societies from all kinds of harm, while stressing that Lebanon will not be a corridor or platform for the export of evil or for smuggling,” the statement concluded.
