IOM: Nearly 28,000 migrants arrive from Africa to Yemen in 2022

The United Nations has confirmed that nearly 28,000 African migrants have arrived in Yemen since the beginning of this year, 2022.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations said in its account on “Twitter” that “more than 27,800 African migrants have arrived in Yemen so far,” indicating that their arrival was fraught with risks.

It is noteworthy that the continued influx of African refugees into Yemen is compounding the deteriorating economic and health situation, amid human rights and humanitarian neglect from international organizations.

Thousands of African migrants take the western coasts of Yemen, which are under the control of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia funded by the Saudi-led coalition countries, as transit areas to the southern provinces, where they are subjected to various kinds of exploitation and violations.
