Contrary to media reports by the Saudi-led coalition about the visit of Rashad al-Alimi, the head of the so-called Riyadh-formed Presidential Council to Egypt, in which he held several meeting with Egyptian officials led by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, information reveals that Rashad al-Alimi has met with a senior Zionist official at the Zionist Embassy in Cairo.
Al-Alimi was accompanied by Aidarous al-Zubaidi, the head of the South Transitional Council (STC) during his visit to Cairo.
“Al-Alimi secretly visited the Israeli embassy in Cairo with Deputy Foreign Minister Idan Roll. The meeting was attended by the Zionist Ambassador to Egypt, Amira Oron, along with Egypt’s deputy chief of intelligence, Nasser Fahmy,” according to information leaked by Alf Ben, editor-in-chief of Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The information confirms that the meeting discussed steps towards normalisation of relations between the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council and the Israeli entity.
During the meeting, Al-Alimi has reportedly shown his willingness to have full normalisation, and asked for Israeli support, according to the report.
Earlier, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, chairman of the STC, said in an interview that “there is a possibility of normalisation and recognition of Israel.”
