Saudi-led puppet government sells off limestone export port

The puppet backed by the Saudi-led coalition has sold the most important Yemeni port for exporting limestone, in violation of all Yemeni laws, regulations, and sovereignty.

Head of the Hana Aden Center for Studies, Anis Mansour, affirmed that the government headed by Maeen Abdul-Malik, through the Minister of Transport, sold the port of Qishn in Mahrah province, used to export limestone at the cheapest price, to the Ajham Energy and Mining Company Ltd.

“The port project’s cost is reaching 130 million dollars, and the company, which has a capital of 20 million dollars, have paid five million dollars under the contract to the Ministry of Transport in the government,” he added.

He explained that the contract was signed with the company by the ministry even before it was presented to the so-called “cabinet of ministers” and approved by the puppet rulers. The Ministry of Transport is headed by an official of the in the Southern Transitional Council, Abdul Salam Hamid, who gave the investor ownership of the port without consulting the rest of the government first.

In early July 2021, the same Ministry of Transport signed an agreement with the company to lease the strategic port of Qishn on the Arabian Sea, and to establish a marine port and a dock for the docking of ships in its first phase.
