The Saudi-led coalition-backed government has foiled an attack in the Islah Party-controlled city of Seiyun in Yemen’s eastern Hadhramaut province.
A Saudi-based news agency said that an imminent car bomb attack was targeting the city. It did not give further details.
The attempted bombing came hours after the convoy of Lahj security chief, Saleh al-Sayyed, survived an assassination attempt by a car bomb attack in Khor Maksar district east of Aden, killing or wounding 18 people.
Observers said the attempt to target Islah in the city of Seiyun was a response from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) over the assassination attempt that target its asset Saleh al-Sayyed in Aden.
