A force affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia on Tuesday arrested a woman in Lahj province, southern Yemen, in a dangerous precedent that Yemen has not witnessed.
Sources said that the so-called “security belt” force stormed the house of a person named Abdullah Abdullatif Al-Yamani in Gul Yamani area of Tuban district, the center of Lahj, on the background of his suspected involvement in the attempt to assassinate the province’s security director, commander of the security belt forces, Brigadier General Saleh al-Sayed, but they did not find him and arrested his wife instead, to put pressure on him.
The sources added that the raiding force took Al-Yamani’s wife to the prison of the former Fifth Brigade camp, which is currently run by the security belt.
The incident aroused the indignation and resentment of the sons of the Mudiyah tribes, to which the detained wife of Al-Yamani belongs, who threatened the Security Belt forces with a harsh response to their immoral behavior that contradicts the law, customs and traditions.
According to the sources, the Security Belt Command refused to release the woman, and stipulated for her release that her husband surrender.
