Several people killed by flooding due to heavy rainfalls in Yemen

At least 10 people, including children, have been killed and others were injured as a result of heavy rains that caused torrential floods in various provinces of Yemen on Saturday night, local officials said.

According to the officials, three children were killed and a fourth one is in a critical condition, after their house collapsed in the Mathbah neighbourhood of Maeen district due torrential rains, according to a reporter in Sana’a.

A three-story building partially collapsed due to heavy rains in the Mathbah neighborhood, leading to the death of two children and the injury of their father, a local resident explained.

In Dhamar province, floods have killed six people and swept away their car in Bani Assaad area of Jabal al-Sharq district.

“In Dhamar province, a car carrying six people, was swept away by torrential flood, while it was crossing the waterway in the district,” said Nashwan al-Samawi, head of Emergency Operations Committee in the province.
