Diplomatic negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia reported as fruitful

The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday said that “five rounds of negotiations between Tehran and Riyadh in Baghdad have been positive.”

In his weekly press conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said: “During the last phone call between the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein, the latter confirmed that the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, welcomed the political and public dialogue between Tehran and Riyadh.”

Kanaani added: “We also welcome it, and the ground is available to hold the next round of negotiations in an official, political and public form.”

He appreciated the efforts and positive role of Baghdad in this regard, expressing hope that they would be able to take positive steps in the next round of negotiations.
