Aden Bank Governor resigns amidst rising disagreements

Governor of the Bank of Aden, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Mabaqi, has on Wednesday resigned from his post.

Southern media reported, quoting officials close to the bank governor, that Al-Mabaqi submitted his resignation to the President of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi.

This comes amid disagreements between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance in the puppet government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

Other sources reported Saudi pressure on the puppet government demanding it to refuse his resignation.

The Finance Ministry forced the bank to pay annual bonuses to employees despite the governor’s objection, as it violates the reform efforts required by regional and international parties in return for providing a Saudi and Emirati deposit.
