Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian mocked Washington’s attempt to accuse Beijing of a “military encirclement” of Taiwan.
“The United States is making a fuss about the alleged military blockade of China while they are doing it themselves,” Zhao said in a tweet posted on Twitter, attaching an illustration showing a map of the US military deployment in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also released information about US military installations around the world. In total, Washington has 750 bases in 80 countries and about 173,000 military personnel based in 159 states.
He often comments on the actions of the US and other Western countries through photos on his personal Twitter account.
Earlier, he pointed to Washington’s misunderstanding of the meaning of the phrase “international community,” described the United States as a real threat to all humanity, and mocked NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg’s words about the alliance’s defensive nature.
