Wanted man blows himself up during arrest in Saudi Arabia

A man wanted by Saudi state security detonated an explosive belt, killing himself and injuring four others in Jeddah, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

The man blew himself up after security forces tracked him and attempted to arrest him in Jeddah’s neighborhood of al-Samer on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the Presidency of State Security.

Meanwhile, the state security indicated that those injured were a Pakistani resident and three security personnel. They were all transferred to the hospital for medical treatment.

In the same vein, the Presidency of State Security affirmed that it will continue in confronting everyone who is tempted to prejudice the stability of this country and the safety of citizens and residents on its lands.

Last June, the Kingdom welcomed its first batch of hajj pilgrims since the coronavirus pandemic, prompting authorities to sharply restrict the annual ritual.
