The Islah party (the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood), dealt a painful blow to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in response to its exclusion from Shabwah province, southern Yemen.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of well-informed sources.
According to the sources, the Safer refinery in Ma’rib stopped pumping gasoline and diesel to Shabwah province following directives from the provincial leadership, which caused a suffocating crisis in the city of Ataq and various directorates.
Since Sunday morning, oil derivatives stations have been witnessing long queues of cars, while the price of a gallon of gasoline has tripled on the black market, the sources said.
The same sources pointed out that the crisis causes a wave of widespread resentment among citizens because Shobwa is an oil-rich province and produces thousands of barrels of crude oil exported in favor to the coalition-backed government and seizes its revenues while depriving the people of the province of its wealth.
