Ship carrying wheat to Yemen departs from Ukraine

The World Food Program (WFP) said in a statement that a Ukrainian wheat ship left on Tuesday and is heading for Yemen.

The program stated that the ship Kartaria left the port of Yuzhny on the Black Sea and will stop in Turkey, where the grain will be milled and turned into flour.

A deal brokered by Turkey and the United Nations in July helped reverse the embargo, and so far more than a million tons of foods have been exported through the Black Sea Initiative.

The WFP confirmed that the wheat, estimated at 37,000 tons, will be transported from Turkey to Yemen.
