At least two soldiers in the first military region affiliated with Islah party were killed and five injured due to an explosion in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of local sources.
According to the sources, an improvised explosive device exploded and targeted a military pickup vehicle belonging to the 37th Armored Brigade while accompanying locomotives loaded with crude oil that were heading from the Al-Khasha’a field in Hadramout to the Al-Uqlah oil field in Shabwah governorate, via the “Abbar-Shabwah” road.
The affirmed that the explosion killed two soldiers, wounded 5 others in addition to burning the vehicle.
This comes amid rising tensions between the first military region’s force and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), which seeks to control the districts of Wadi Hadramout by repeating the scenario of its takeover of Shabwah province.
