Mohammed al-Houthi condemns EU statements on state employee salaries

Member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi has reacted to the European Union (EU)’s statements regarding the national salvation government’s demands of paying salaries of the state employees in order to extend the truce in Yemen.

“The statements of the European Union and others are absurd and only serve to legitimise international crimes,” Mohammed al-Houthi said on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

He added: “Payment of salaries and lifting the siege are legitimate demands, and their rejection is a form of double and organised terrorism which we condemn.”

Al-Houthi confirmed what the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) has said in its report, in which states that “The blockade imposed on Yemen by a Saudi-led coalition has substantially contributed to pushing Yemeni civilians into starvation and can be considered torture.”

“The US Department of State and the European Union should read the report,” he said.
