New round of infighting hits occupied Yemeni city of Taiz

New clashes broke out on Sunday between tribal militants and UAE-backed militias in the western countryside of Taiz.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies f tribal sources

According to the tribal sources, violent clashes broke out between forces led by Tariq Saleh, and armed men from the Mashawla tribe, pointing out that the clashes spread to nearby areas.

The sources explained that the confrontations came against the background of Tariq’s forces arresting four members of the tribe and transferring them to an unknown location.

The new clashes are part of a long scenario that began with Tariq trying to extend his influence over the most important coastal districts overlooking Bab al-Mandeb Strait and trying to weaken the influence of the tribes there.
