Unknown militants blew up an oil pipeline in Yemen’s Shabwah province, which is under the control of the UAE-backed militias.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal on Sunday, based on testimonies of local sources.
According to the sources, it is believed that members of pro-UAE factions known as the “Shabwah Defense” who were laid off from their units by the Southern Traditional Council (STC) planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) under a pipeline transporting oil from the fields of Ayadh and Al-Uqlah to the port of Nashmiyah, and detonated them.
The attack took place in Habban district. The pumping of oil has stopped as a result, one of the sources said.
This is the second step of escalation by those who were laid off from their units in Shabwah, where they had previously held a mass demonstration in Ataq to condemn the decision to eliminate their salaries..
