Russian forces carry out efficient airstrikes against takfiri terrorists in Syria

The Russian Defence Ministry has said that its fighter jets have carried out airstrikes against the positions of foreign-sponsored takfiri terrorist outfits in the militant-held northwestern flank of Syria, killing dozens of terrorists in the process.

Deputy Chief of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria Major General Oleg Yegorov said the air attacks destroyed a training camp in addition to a command center for terrorists, their weapons depots and nearly 15 pickup trucks with heavy machine guns mounted on them.

Yegorov added that the aerial raids killed some 100 terrorists, as takfiri militants are engaged in fierce clashes in an area divided between Turkish-allied militants and members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group, as well as the groups called the Levant Front and the Sham Legion.

Separately, Russian and Syrian military forces conducted a special operation in the Arab country’s southern province of Daraa, killing 20 militants, including the architects of a terrorist attack last week.

Eighteen soldiers were killed and 27 others injured in a bomb attack on a military bus on the outskirts of the Syrian capital of Damascus early on October 13.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that the blast was caused by an explosive device that had been previously affixed under the bus.

Russia has been providing Syrian forces with crucial military assistance in the ongoing battles across the conflict-plagued country.

The Russian assistance, which began in September 2015 at the official request of the Syrian government, has proved effective as Syrians continue to recapture key areas from remnants of the Daesh terrorist group and other foreign-backed terrorist factions.
