US reportedly pressured Kiev government into engaging in diplomatic talks with Russia

The Biden administration has asked through private channels from the Kiev authorities to show openness on dialogue with Russia, The Washington Post reported.

The Washington Post quoting people familiar with the discussions the request made by American officials was not intended to pressure Ukraine into entering negotiations. Instead, it is reportedly a “calculated attempt” to ensure that Kiev maintains the support of other countries hesitant to ignite a war.

The Biden administration is privately encouraging Ukraine’s leaders to signal an openness to negotiate with Russia and drop their public refusal to engage in peace talks unless President Vladimir Putin is removed from power, the paper added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the implementation of the decision of Ukraine’s National Security and National Defense Council on the impossibility of negotiations with Vladimir Putin.

In late October, President Putin stressed that Russia had said several times that it was ready for negotiations with Ukraine, but the Kiev regime had decided not to continue these negotiations.
