Separatist militias deploy near Aden presidential palace

The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) deployed its militants near the Al-Ma’ashiq Presidential Palace in Yemen’s occupied southern port city of Aden.

Sources said that the STC deployed the so-called “Presidential Al-Asifah Forces” in a bid to block the Saudi’s creation of presidential protection forces. Saudi planned to take Tariq Affash’s forces and place them under the command of the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi.

The sources added that the STC’s new force was created using elements of the “Al-Asifah Brigade” led by Osan Al-Anshli, who is described as an arm of the President of the STC, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.

The sources pointed out that disputes are still raging over which forces will assume the protection of Al-Ma’ashiq Presidential Palace. The conflict began on May 22, after the STC forces insulted Tariq Affash and his companions, while preventing them from celebrating Unity Day.

Al-Alimi and Tariq Afash visited Jordan before heading today to the UAE to discuss this problem
