Forces of the First Military Region, a unit affiliated with the Islah party, have foiled a first offensive operation against its militants in the city of Seiyoun, the capital of Hadhramaut governorate, eastern Yemen.
According to sources, Islah militants arrested a cell loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), which was in possession of a number of improvised explosive devices at the entrances to Seiyoun, during the search process.
Source confirmed that STC loyalists tried to bring explosive devices into the city during an event they tried to hold on Friday on the occasion of UAE National Day in the city.
On Saturday, the so-called Southern Resistance in Hadhramaut called for armed struggle against the forces of the First Military Region in the region, because of their “barbaric repressive practices” against the people of the valley districts.
