Kidney treatment medication in Yemen under immediate threat of running out

The official of international cooperation at the Ministry of Public Health and Population, Mortada Al-Murtadha, said on Tuesday that the medicines for kidney failure in the Ministry’s stores are about to run out by the end of this year.

Al-Murtadha stressed that 4,150 patients with kidney failure are threatened with inevitable death if dialysis sessions are stopped, as medicines run out.

He explained that the ministry addressed the United Nations organizations months ago regarding the provision of drugs for kidney failure for the year 2023, and delay is the master of the situation.

The state is unable to import medicines due to the blockade on Sana’a airport and Hodeidah port, Al-Murtadda added.
