Massive fire plagues refugee camp in Hodeidah

A massive fire broke in a camp for Internally displaced people (IDPs) in Hodeidah governorate, western Yemen, causing mass displacement of many families.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of local sources.

According to local sources, the fire broke out in the Atta camp for displaced people, east of Al-Khokha district, south of Hodeidah, and destroyed number of families’ homes.

The fire, which is the third incident in the displacement camps in Al-Khokha district in weeks, has turned many families into homeless people without shelter or food, the sources explained.

The sources pointed out that the repeated incident fires come after Tariq Saleh’s forces asked the residents of the camps in Al-Khokha district to leave the areas where they reside, as they are going to establish military camps, but this was rejected by the residents.
