Foreign Minister of Yemen meets with Head of UNMHA in Sana'a

Foreign Minister, Hisham Sharaf, on Wednesday stressed the importance of commitment to implementing the Stockholm Agreement, which the Saudi-led coalition countries and their loyalists are still violating it by targeting civilians in Hodeidah province.

This came during his meeting in the capital Sana’a with Head of the United Nations Mission in Support of the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) – Head of the Redeployment Coordination Committee in Hodeidah, General Michael Beary.

Sharaf stressed that any upcoming truce is an opportunity to build confidence, and a necessary step to enter into any talks to achieve a just, honorable and sustainable peace that serves the interest of the Yemeni people.

He explained that “The truce should include a number of measures, foremost of which is paying the salaries of all state employees, neutralizing the economic process, stopping manipulation of the national currency, ensuring the entry of oil derivative ships, domestic gas, foodstuffs and commercial goods in all its forms, and reopening Sanaa International Airport completely and for different destinations.”

The Foreign Minister confirmed Sana’a authorities’ keenness to provide facilities and support to the redeployment team and mission in Hodeida to implement their tasks.

For his part, Gen. Beary affirmed that the Redeployment Coordination Committee would continue its work as required. He expressed his hope for everyone’s cooperation to achieve the desired goals of the presence of the UNMHA in Hodeidah.
