Senior STC commander killed in explosion

A senior military commander of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia was killed on Wednesday along with his companions in a bomb attack in Abyan province, south of Yemen.

Local sources said that an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded and targeted a military vehicle carrying the commander Abdul Rahim al-Makar and six of his escorts, while passing through Wadi Omran in Mudiyah district.

The STC accused Al-Qaeda of being behind the assassinations of its members in the districts of Abyan, in cooperation and coordination with elements of the Islah Party in the province.
