Yemen's Deputy Foreign Minister Warns That Decisive Decision May be Taken Against Arbitrary UN Inspections of Ships

Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister in the National Salvation Government, Hussein Al-Ezzi, revealed Sana’a’s intention to take a decisive decision to confront the arbitrary measures practiced by the United Nations regarding the inspection of ships arriving at the port of Hodeidah in the event that these measures are not reversed.

“It is very likely that Sana’a will take a major historic step if the increasingly arbitrary measures of the UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism (UNVIM) are not corrected,” Hussein Al-Ezzi tweeted on Tuesday.

He noted that the UN mechanism is now in violation of its established purpose.

“The UNVIM was established to facilitate the unimpeded flow of commercial goods and services to Yemen, while ensuring compliance with the arms embargo established pursuant to Security Council resolution 2216 (2015),” according to the UN.

But the mechanism has turned into a tool used by the Saudi-led coalition and its sponsors to tighten the noose around the Yemeni people by preventing and delaying the arrival of goods and commodities to the port of Hodeidah
