Yemen overwhelmingly rejects any US role in peace process with Saudi Arabia

The majority of political officials and dozens of activists in Sana’a and the others provinces have openly rejected any US role in a possible diplomatic settlement in Yemen.

This came during a massive campaign that was launched on social media platforms on Monday, under a hashtag #America_Enemy_of_Peace.

The campaign received great interaction from Yemeni leaders and forces at home and abroad, all of whom criticised the American position towards peace in Yemen and its attempts to abort the rapprochement efforts between Sana’a and Riyadh.

The embedded tweets, which were estimated to number in the thousands, focused on revealing the American role in support of war on Yemen, and in setting incapacitating conditions for peace, most notably the latest incitement to the Saudi coalition not to pay overdue salaries, asd well as passing through behind-the-scenes games to sabotage any progress made in the peace file.

Although US does not hide its role in war and peace, the coincidence of the campaign comes to reject any the American role and movement seeking to impose ready projects for peace in a way that preserves its own agenda.

The launch of the campaign came on the eve of America’s offer to participate in the negotiations led by the Sultanate of Oman between Sana’a and Riyadh.

Upon his arrival in Egypt as part of a tour that includes Israel, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that his country “would try to move the peace file in Yemen.”

Blinken’s statements coincided with an American escalation through Israel in the region, meant in order to drag it into a regional war and to end the progress made in the file of stability in the region, most notably Yemen.
