The Saudi regime’s arrest of a Yemeni woman while she was on her way to Mecca to perform Umrah, sparks wide condemnations and discontent among Yemeni activists on social media platforms
Yemenis and Arab human rights activists called on the Saudi regime to quickly release Yemeni Marwa Abdo al-Sabri, 29. After the latter responded to an insult to disparage Yemenis directed at her by a Saudi policewoman inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
The activists said that the Saudi regime fabricated charges against the Yemeni woman, and sentenced her to a full year in prison.
A number of human rights activists found the arrest of the Yemeni woman an opportunity to reaffirm the need for the holy Islamic sites in Mecca and Medina to be subject to an Islamic international administration, away from what they described as the reckless mood of the Saudi regime.
