The President of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, has accused the United States of being behind the war that broke out between the “Tigray Liberation Front” and the Ethiopian government in November 2020.

In an interview with “Eritrean TV”, Afwerki said that the peace developments that Ethiopia and Eritrea witnessed in 2018, which gave hope and optimism in the region and beyond, worried the United States, which pushed the Tigray Liberation Front to commit unprecedented recklessness to attack the northern base of the Ethiopian army, which led to the outbreak of War with the Ethiopian government.

The “Ethiopian Monitor” website stated that Afwerki launched a violent attack on the Tigray Liberation Front, accusing it of being responsible for the war with the Ethiopian government and describing that war as devastating and unjustified.

Afwerki spoke about what he described as the historical facts of the repercussions of the new US national security strategy on global and regional peace.
