A new crisis has emerged between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition, and trade unions in the port of Ade after Ministry of Transport imposed new tariffs that would double the prices of goods and foodstuffs.
According to sources in Trade Union, the STC-affiliated governor in Aden rejected the new measure taken by the Transport Authority, which stipulates the imposition of new fees on trucks at a rate of 4,000 riyals per container leaving the port.
The port has witnessed tension between the armed factions affiliated with the coalition, which each side is trying to impose what it wants, the sources added
Economists believe that the new tariffs may double the prices of goods and foodstuffs, especially since they come just a few months after the Pro-coalition government decided to raise customs duties to 750 riyals.
