Local residents of Mudiyah district, east of Abyan, found several of explosive devices planting on the main roads in the province.
According to the residents, the explosive devices were planted by al-Qaeda members on the side of the roads linking the city of Mudiyah and the area of al-Furaid.
The sources said the explosives were prepared to target a military convoy of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, which was on its way to the area.
A few days ago, an explosive device exploded in a leader’s military convoy in the STC militia while passing through the same district, killing the leader and wounding 6 others.
Since the launch of the so-called “Arrows of the East” operation on September 25, 2022, the Islah militants in support of al-Qaeda have claimed the lives of dozens of leaders and members of the STC militia.
