Saudi Arabia has begun efforts to form a southern political entity to complement the so-called “Dera Al-Watan” forces allied to it.
Political sources said on Saturday that “Saudi Arabia has started intensive moves to form a southern entity that includes leaders from different currents, and the Dera Al-Watan Forces will be the military arm of the new southern entity.”
The sources added that Riyadh is seeking for the new entity to be an alternative to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), and to present it as a representative of the south in terms of its representation in the political solution negotiations.
