Military and media experts reviewed, in an intellectual symposium organized in Sana’a on Saturday by the Yemeni Media Union (YMU) on the 8th anniversary of the aggressive war on Yemen, the US ambitions in the region.
The symposium, in which speakers from Yemen and Lebanon took part via live video technology, shed light on the American targeting of the region’s peoples and the war of aggression against Yemen, as well as its evidence and dimensions.
At the symposium, three working papers were presented. The first paper was presented by Brigadier General Abdullah bin Amer, Deputy Head of the Moral Guidance Department at the Ministry of Defense. It dealt with “the American occupation of eastern Yemen – objectives, risks, and the liberation equation.”
The second paper by the editor-in-chief of the Lebanese Al-Binaa newspaper, Nasser Qandil, focused on “the pretexts and headlines promoted by the United States of America to justify its wars,” which introduced a reading of the Yemeni experience to confront the US presence in the region.
The third paper, by the Lebanese military expert Brigadier General Amin Al-Hotait, defined the size of the American armies and bases in the region. He estimated that there were about 54 bases and he used a map to indicate their locations, the size of the forces, and the nature of the alliances cooperating with them in this geographical area.
The papers, in their entirety, refuted the Saudi-led coalition countries’ allegations used to justify their aggression against Yemen, viewing it as part of the West’s and America’s efforts to control the Arab region’s sources of wealth, particularly oil in Syria and Iraq, and plans to implement the American agenda in Yemen.
Participants at the symposium emphasized that America’s operations in the region are consistent with its goals of protecting Israel and controlling the sources of wealth in Yemen and the Arab world.
