A major military exercise, Aurora 23, with the participation of 26,000 people, started on Monday in Sweden, this is the largest training that has been held on the territory of the kingdom over the past 25 years.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the country, the army, navy, air force of Sweden and militia units will be involved in the exercises. Training will be held mainly in the south of the kingdom, the island of Gotland and near it.
“The purpose of the exercises is to strengthen the collected potential to counter an armed attack on Sweden … Aurora-23 is the largest national exercise of its kind in the last 25 years. 14 countries and about 26,000 women and men take part in them,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
In addition to the Swedish military, representatives from the United States, Great Britain, Finland, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany and France will participate in the training.
