President of the Supreme Political Council in Sana’a, Mahdi Al-Mashat, has accused the United States of trying to thwart peace efforts in Yemen and warned Riyadh against yielding to it.
This came during a speech he delivered Thursday evening on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.
Al-Mashat advised Saudi Arabia not to succumb to American pressure, saying: “It is not in the interest of Riyadh and the region to succumb to American pressure.”
He added, “Submitting to American pressure and efforts will be at the expense of the aggression countries (the Saudi-led coalition) and will bring them destruction and instability.”
In his speech, Al-Mashat mentioned the recent negotiations conducted by the Saudi delegation in Sanaa through Omani mediation, saying, “During the negotiations with the Saudi side, we adhered to our people’s legitimate rights to freedom and independence, as well as their right to stop aggression, lift the siege, and pay salaries from the revenues of our sovereign wealth.”
