During the past two days, the UAE occupation has resumed construction work in its joint military base with the Zionist entity in `Abd al Kuri Island on Yemen’s occupied archipelago of Socotra.
The Yemeni Press Agency learned from its sources that a group of Emirati officers, along with the commander of the so-called “Beaches Battalion” on the island, Muhammad Ahmed Fa’arahi, went during the past two days via a private plane to supervise the process of resuming work at the military base on Abd al Kuri Island.
The construction is being carried out by a company headed by Omar Al-Zoubaidi, a relative of the head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidarous Al-Zoubaidi, the sources said.
Sources confirmed that the Emirati officers and Fa’arahi, move via a private plane almost daily to Abd al Kuri Island in order to ensure the progress of work at the military base.
According to the sources, Saudi Arabia is turning a blind eye to what the UAE is doing in the island, after sharing influence on the Yemeni island of Socotra.
It is worth mentioning that Abd al Kuri Island occupies a strategic location that oversees the maritime navigation route towards the Horn of Africa, the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and there are 6 oil sectors.
The UAE has carried out a forced displacement against the people of the Island during the past year, in order to build a military base in cooperation with the Zionist entity, which is in the process of completing the repair of the base’s runway, which began work in December 2021.
